![]() ![]() For me NeoLoader has the potential of becoming the best all-purpose download manager in the open source world if the developer finds time and motivation the resume the development of NeoLoader. I am aware that DavidXanatos is busy with other projects ( Sandboxie, TaskExplorer, etc) but if it happens that he decides to renew the development of NeoLoader I may resume the testing and I may open new issues- in the past I think I have encountered bugs and I have thought of new features/options, right now I do not have the motivation to do that if the project is abandoned for good. Such complex programs are no longer created. NeoLoader has too many virtues to list all of them here, the most important ones being multi-network support, portability, clean and well-designed GUI, C++. I still have NeoLoader version 0.53a Build 167 which I suppose is the latest release. Something simple that just works with some security could bring back p2p, IMO. This could change with a good alternative, but it needs to be anonymous and work. I never thought it was a viable platform due to "seeding" individual files. Torrents ruined p2p, and after everything else died off even torrents stopped being popular, like this was the real purpose of it. Everything moved to torrent, which I think was a trojan horse for filesharing. I've had good experience with emule in the past, it's just that it stopped working over new windows versions.Īs far as p2p interest in general, I think the problem is lack of decent choice. eMule recently got an update to v0.60c, which I might look into. If something could offer basic filesharing with a modicum of anonymity, I think it would work and become reasonably popular. I've been a fan of edk/kad, but nothing ever worked as good as Overnet, which is too outdated, same with the emule mods. I'm just finding out that a 53 beta exists for example, which I might look into. I don't think updates were properly pushed out either. I tried using the program years ago, which I don't remember clearly, but what I do remember is that it didn't work right. ![]() The program should just focus on the decentralized kad network, work OOTB, no fiddling with manual router config or list files, etc. Bittorrent should be dropped if the program isn't going to be regularly updated. I have an interest in this program, but I think the program suffers from bloat, bugs, and legacy cruft. ![]()
